🔥 Two-Stepping Into the Wise Woman Years: Transformation, Hot Flashes & Sacred Herbs

There comes a moment — often quiet, sometimes fiery — where we feel the shift. The bones ache differently. The dreams deepen. The mirror reflects not just a woman, but a whole becoming. Welcome to the Wise Woman Years..

As I celebrate my 48th revolution around the sun, I feel the transformation coursing through me. Not as something to fear or fix — but as a sacred invitation. An invitation to two-step (dance) with the fire of life’s next chapter, hips swaying in rhythm with ancestral knowing, herbal wisdom, and hormonal evolution.

This Ain’t Just Menopause… It’s Initiation!

For so many of us, the conversation around aging has been wrapped in fear, shame, or silence. We’re taught to brace for hot flashes, mood swings, weight changes, and waning energy — as if these are symptoms of decline rather than signals of ascension.

But the Wise Woman doesn’t shrink. She expands. She softens and sharpens. She learns how to breathe fire without burning out.

This is not an ending. This is an initiation, baby!

It is where the Mother becomes the Elder. Where wisdom becomes your offering.Where your body becomes a holy compass.

And like any good ritual, we lean on the Earth to walk us through.

Herbs to Support the Sacred Shift

As a clinical herbalist and traditional midwife, I’ve walked alongside many women through every season of the womb. In these Wise Woman years, there are allies I trust to hold us:

1. Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa)

For emotional storms, night sweats, and hot flashes — she’s a fierce yet gentle midwife through hormonal shifts. Use with care and intention.

2. Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)

For heart palpitations, anxiety, and grief, we didn’t even know we were holding. She says: You don’t have to carry it all anymore.

3. Sage (Salvia officinalis)

A drying, cooling herb perfect for hot flashes and excess sweating. She clears both body heat and emotional fog.

4. Vitex (Chaste Tree Berry)

A hormone balancer that whispers to the pituitary gland — inviting more ease as progesterone and estrogen waltz into their new rhythm.

5. Oatstraw (Avena sativa)

For the nervous system, the spirit, and the sacred vessel. She nourishes like a warm hug from within — especially when fatigue, mood swings, or irritability show up.

Two-Stepping With the Fire

I don’t tiptoe into this phase — I two-step. With fire in one hand and rose water in the other. With laughter that makes my belly shake. With herbs in my teacup and prayers on my tongue. With soft cotton dresses and silver strands, I refuse to dye.

If you’re reading this and you, too, are feeling the flame — I honor you.

Let us not fear the fire. Let us become it.

Let us craft our medicine, tell our stories, and steep our teas like a sacred ceremony.

Blessed birthday to me.

Blessed, wise woman, years to us all. May we live, love, and sweat sacredly — together. With herbs. With joy. With reverence.

Asé.
